Day 01: Kathmandu

Quest Himalayan Trek and Expedition’s team representative will pick you up from the Kathmandu airport after your arrival and transfer you safely to the hotel. After check-in, you can rest after a long tiring flight, or explore the surroundings if you are not tired. In the evening there is a welcome dinner hosted for your groups, and friends in a popular Nepalese Restaurant where you can also get a glimpse of the Nepalese cultural program while enjoying the taste of Nepalese food.

DAY 02:  Kathmandu Sightseeing

Enjoy your morning breakfast in the hotel. Then we will head for the historical and spiritual attractions day tour in Kathmandu. Your today’s visit includes World Heritage Sites such as Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath), Pashupatinath Temple, Buddhist shrine (Buddha Nath), etc. In the afternoon, there is a small meeting where trekkers can meet with the trekking leader and other team members. You can also ask questions related to upcoming adventurous trekking.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara – Flight optional: 6 hrs drive 

Early in the morning at around 7 am, we head to Pokhara on a tourist bus. Driving from Kathmandu to Pokhara offers a beautiful view of greenery, small villages, rivers and mountains such as Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhare, etc. Pokhara is a beautiful city renowned as the city of lakes. After reaching Pokhara you can also enjoy the boat ride on Fewa Lake. Today, we will spend our night in Pokhara.

Day 04: Fly to Jomsom & Trek to Kagbeni (2,858m): 3-4 hrs 

After an early breakfast, we will depart for the airport to catch a morning flight to Jomson. After about 20 minutes of flight time over the mountains such as Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri, we will land at Jomsom. Jomson is a large town, headquarters in the Mustang region; it is also a major village in the Kali Gandaki area linking the age-old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. After reaching Jomsom, we continue our walk on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki River and finally reach Ekle Bhatti village after about 3 hours. We will stop here for a while and head towards Kagbeni. We will spend our night at a local tea house in Kagbeni.

Day 05: Kagbeni to chele (3050m): 5-6 hrs 

Our journey starts with a special permit check-up and onwards to the riverbank of Kali Gandaki upstream. First, we will reach Tangbe village with narrow alleys amongst white-washed houses, barley, wheat, buckwheat, etc. From there, we trek towards Chhusang and cross the river heading up to the huge red chunk of conglomerate fallen from the cliff above. We move forward to small ridges to reach Chele Village. We will spend our 5th day of the trek here in Chele Village.

Day 06: Chele to Syangboche (3475m): 6-7 hrs

After enjoying morning breakfast, we trek again and walk towards Elke-Bhatti village. We will climb to Taklam La Pass (3,624m) through narrow stretches witnessing the stunning views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang, Damodar Danda, etc. Further, we will descend to the village of Samar. Then climb the trail that goes above Samar village and after walking for hours we will reach our final destination; Syangboche for today. On our way to Syangboche, we will pass through cool streams, juniper trees, Ranchung Cave, and so on. We will spend our night in Syangboche.

Day 07: Syangboche to Ghaymi (3520m): 5-6 hrs

After enjoying our breakfast, we trek uphill to the Yamada La (3850m) and pass through a few teahouses, chorten, and local villages where houses are made in Tibetan style with open verandas. The trail leads to Nyi Pass (4010m) which will take a little longer. Then descend to Ghaymi which is our final destination for today. We will spend our night here in Ghaymi village; the third-largest settlement in the Mustang Valley.

Day 08: Ghaymi to Charang (Tsarang) (3500m): 4-5 hrs

We will start our trek with a pleasant walk after enjoying our breakfast. We then cross the Ghaymi Khola, the trail climbs to a plateau and passes beside a very long Mani wall; a sacred stone wall made by the followers of Buddhism. From the end of the wall, the trail heads east to the village of Charang (Tsarang). We will spend our night in Charang (Tsarang) but to reach our teahouse tonight there is a huge White Dzong with Red Gompa.

Day 09: Charang to Lo-Manthang (3700m/12,136ft): 5-6 hrs

Today, we trek towards Lo-Manthang witnessing the breathtaking views of Tilicho, Nilgiri, Annapurna I, Mount Bhrikuti, etc. Further, the trail ascends gently to the 3,850m windy pass of Lo, from where we can see the Lo-Manthang Valley. While heading towards Lo-Manthang, views of the walled city appear amazing with its hills on the Tibetan Border. We will spend our night at a hotel in Lo-Manthang.

Day 10: Exploration of Lo-Manthang

Today, we will explore the surrounding areas of Lo-Manthang. We will also visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. After visiting Namgyal Gompa we will continue our day tour to Tingkhar; the last village to the northwest of Lo-Manthang and stroll back to the hotel. Or you can choose to visit the tall Champa Lakhang ‘God House’ the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hall which are the main attraction points of the town. Another attraction is the popular four-store building of Raja’s palace as well as the surrounding breathtaking views of the world’s highest mountains.

Day 11: Lo-Manthang to Drakmar (3810 m): 6-7 hrs

While returning to Lo-Manthang, we will not take the same route from which we came. The main attraction for the trek to Drakmar via Gyakar is the 1200-year-old Ghar Gompa with Guru Rinpoche. However, the Gompa is also renowned for its rock paintings. According to the legend, anyone who makes a wish to Ghar Gompa, their wish is fulfilled. We will spend our night here at a guesthouse in Drakmar.

Day 12: Dhakmar to Ghiling (3806m): 5-6 hrs

Today, we get back to Ghiling which is our final destination for tonight after a long walk. After arrival, you will enjoy your lunch. Spend your day exploring the surrounding areas, we recommend walking in the evening to witness the amazing views of the surroundings.

Day 13: Ghiling to Chhuksang (3050m): 5-6 hrs     

We will head towards Chhuksang after enjoying our breakfast. Then, we will finally reach Chhuksang after a 5-hour walk enjoying the beautiful Himalayan views. We will spend our night at a teahouse in Chhuksang.

Day 14: Chhuksang to Jomsom (2700): 6-7 hrs

Today we will start our trek early in the morning Kagbeni. After finishing the upper Mustang trails, we will join the normal Annapurna Circuit Trek. After enjoying our lunch in Kagbeni, we head straight to Jomson for our final stop and overnight stay. Or, if you can spare one more day, our guide would take you to Muktinath too.

Day 15:  Back to Pokhara

After enjoying breakfast, we will depart for the airport for our flight to Pokhara. After about 30 minutes, we will arrive in Pokhara and check in to the hotel. You can rest for the entire day or explore the surroundings, the choice is yours. We will spend our night in Pokhara.

Day 16: Drive from Pokhara or Flight to Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Kathmandu by tourist bus. After reaching Kathmandu, get transferred to your hotel and complete the check-in procedure. You can spend your evening leisurely or go shopping. There is a farewell dinner hosted by Quest Trek Himalaya in the evening in the hotel for you all. Enjoy the dinner and celebrate your last night here in Nepal. Spend your last night comfortably in the hotel rooms in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Fly Home 

After enjoying your breakfast in the hotel, check out of the hotel. Then, our team representatives will transfer you to the airport for your flight to your hometown. Say goodbye to Nepal taking all those wonderful memories you made here and also promising to return soon.

Trekking Boots: You must pack sturdy and comfortable hiking waterproof boots that provide support and protection to your feet and ankles. Also, be sure that you tie and untie the laces with ease and check that the boot has deep-cut traction on the sole.

Backpack: Choose a backpack with a good quality having of capacity 40-60litres to carry all your gear and personal items. Duffle bag or kit bag is necessary to carry gear while trekking.

Sleeping Bags: It is best to carry your own sleeping bags. For trekking in high-altitudes in Nepal, we advise you to carry a warm and lightweight sleeping bag rated to at least -25C.

Clothing: You will need a variety of clothing depending on the season of your trekking. But for any season trekking, always carry quick-drying, moisture-wicking clothes. Also not to forget the layers are very important for adjusting to changing temperatures during trekking days. So, choose the best brands for a base layer, insulation layer, outer layer, trekking trousers, shirts, waterproof jackets, etc.

Trekking Poles: The use of poles during trekking days is very essential as they help to reduce the impact and stress on your joints and make your trekking days easier, especially on steep and rugged terrain.

First Aid Kit: Don’t forget to carry a first aid kit with essentials such as antiseptic, bandages, pain relievers, blister treatments, etc.

Water Filtration System: Rather than buying bottled water in every lodge, or tea house, we suggest you carry a water bottle with a built-in filter or water purification tablets for safe drinking water.
