People who are looking for a short Ghorepani Poonhill trip would love the three-day journey. Beginning and ending in Kathmandu adds two more days, which makes it a six-day trip. The walk is not as simple as it has some obstacles, as we must ascend a stairway of 3300 steps to reach Ghorepani.
Aside from that, there are various other uphill trails to be found along the route. However, the difficulties will be worth it after coming across the beautiful mountain vistas. Beautiful mountains of the South Annapurna mountain ranges can be seen from here such as Barakisha, Nilgiri, Hiuchhuli, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri mountain. A lively scene is created by a near perspective of the Tukuche peak in front of our eyes. However, you will have a great adventure on this trip. You’ll never forget the difficult steps and exhaustion you felt as you ascended the stairwell. You will follow the Bhurungdi River east through lowland rice fields and dense woods. Along the trail, you will also observe a variety of birds, and monkeys playing. Then, skirting the traditional settlements, you will leave the river and move towards the highlands. You will also get to enjoy the taste of Nepali food.
Access to the Trailhead
You will be picked up by our (Quest Himalayan Trek) from your Lakeside hotel in a private tourist vehicle. Trekkers departing from Kathmandu must book the trip as a 5 Day trek. The Prithivi Highway is a picturesque journey that takes about 6 to 7 hours of driving. The private tourist bus will drop you off at the trailhead the next day to begin the trekking. Or you can also have a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara that will take about 20 to 25 minutes.
Permit & Document
Hiking in the Ghorepani PoonHill Trek requires two types of permits, i.e., Annapurna Conservation Area Project issues ACAP permits and TAAN issues TIMS Cards. Quest Himalayan Trek manages and does the documentation process for you to issue permits. Their respective check-posts demand to present the entry permits at their offices at the trailheads, So, we recommend you carry your valid passport and two copies of your passport-size photos to paste into the permit.
Duration
Trekkers can start the Poon Hill Trek from either Nayapul or Ghandruk. Both trails are about two hours away from Pokhara. The Ghorepani Poon Hill short trip that begins in Nayapul takes 3 to 5 days to complete. The expedition began with an overnight stay in Ulleri or Tikhedhunga. Ghorepani is the beginning point of the trek for the second day. Finally, you go through a tough early morning climb to the summit of Poon Hill for a beautiful sunrise view on the following day. After viewing Poon Hill, you can walk back to Nayapul or to Tadapani on the same day.
Trekkers can expect about 14-15 hours of trekking in total during the hike. A day stroll of 4-5 hours is rather easy. The drop-dead gorgeous mountain views and the chance to interact with locals add to allure people in this short hiking trip.
