Your first day of the trek starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and continues through the stunning Phakding village and the historical town of Namche Bazaar. From there, you will cross the three high passes of Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongmala La before finally reaching the summit of Kalapattahar and Gokyo Lake.

Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu
After you arrive at Kathmandu Airport, Quest Himalayan Trek and Expedition representatives will pick you up and transfer you safely to the hotel. After check-in, you can either rest after a long tiring flight or hang around, and do as you, please. In the evening, there is a welcome dinner party at a famous traditional Nepalese Restaurant where you can taste emphasized food.
Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing
After you enjoy your breakfast in the hotel (8:00 am), your guided tour to the city’s renowned historical and spiritual places starts. Some landmarks you visit include World Heritage Sites like Pashupatinath, Durbar Square, Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath), Buddhists Shrine, etc. Later in the evening, there is a meeting discussing the upcoming adventure. You will also meet your trek leader and other members in this meeting. Quest Himalayan Trek members will explain everything in detail and provide information related to your queries.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Lukla, Trek to Phakding: 4 to 5 hrs walk
After enjoying your delicious and healthy morning meal in the hotel, transfer to the airport. You will catch a flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest. In about 45 minutes, trekkers can view the stunning snow-capped mountain and will land between the beautiful hills at Tenzing –Hillary airstrip. After your arrival, you will be introduced to your trekking crew and start trekking toward Phakding. As it’s your first day of trekking, it will surely be an exciting first day in the Everest region. Today, you will stay overnight in Phakding.
Day 4: Trek from Phakding to the Namche Bazaar: 6 -7 hrs walk
You will enjoy your early meal and start your journey toward high altitude, crossing the Dudh Koshi River through a bridge. Gradually heading forward, we will enter Sagarmatha National Park, located at Monjoo. Continuing our walk, we proceed towards Jorasale until we reach the popular Sherp village of Namche Bazar. Today, we will stop at Chautara and admire the fabulous views of the peak. We will stay overnight comfortably at Namche Bazar.
Day 5: Acclimatization day walking through the Namche Bazar
Today, it’s your first acclimatization day of the trek. It is important to have an acclimatization day to avoid all the possible risks of sickness or altitude sickness. Acclimatization day is not about resting but rather participating in physical activities. Therefore, you can take a short hike near Thame and walk around Namche Bazar. Today, you will stay overnight in Namche Bazar.
Day 6: Trek to Tengboche (3,860 m): 7 hrs walk
We start our day after breakfast and continue our journey to Tengboche with a stunning view of the Everest Himalayan ranges. We will gradually move through gorgeous Everest trekking trails, spot alpine flora and fauna, and enjoy our lunch at Phuki Thega. At the end of the day, we will finally reach Tengboche. Our major visits here are to the ancient Tengboche Buddhist monastery and to admire the views of Everest and Amadablam, along with other surrounding peaks. Moreover, we will spend the night in Tengboche.
Day 7: Trek to Pangboche (3,930 m) from Tengboche: 2 – 3 hrs walk
After walking down from Deboche to Imja Khola, we will cross a bridge over a picturesque gorge. Then we can gradually see the fantastic view of Mount Ama Dablam. There are numerous excellent opportunities for photo-clicking in both directions and various choirs and walls that pass through increasing altitudes to reach the town of Pangboche. The road to Pangboche village takes about 2-3 hours. After you arrive at the tea house in Pangboche, you can enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon you can explore the town alone or with your group. Pangboche is a photogenic village with stone-filled walls. In the evening, it is worth going to the viewpoint of the village to enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains. Today, we will stay overnight at Lodge in Pangboche.
Day 8: Hiking to Ama Dablam base camp: 4 to 5 hrs walk
After enjoying the morning meal, we head towards Ama Dablam base camp. It is an opportunity to leave the main path toward the Everest base camp and explore the undiscovered areas in the Khumbu region. For reaching the Ama Dablam base camp, you can acclimate yourself better. To get to Ama Dablam base camp, cross the Imja Drnagka River on a bridge first. Ama Dablam is located 4,576m above sea level. The summit is about 2,300m high. The base camp offers the most beautiful views of Kangtega (6,783m), Thamserku (6,618m), and Taboche (6,542m). After spending some time in the Ama Dablam base camp, return to Pangboche similarly. Today, we will stay overnight at Pangboche.
Day 9: Trek to Dingboche from Pangboche: 4 to 5 hrs walk
We will leave Pangboche on a path that leads to the Dingboche village. The arid landscape now reflects the height when we enter the alpine zone. Then, we passed through some yak shepherd houses and walled fields in Orsho before crossing a stream and going for a final climb to Dingboche. The Dingboche town is an amazing place surrounded by beautiful peaks. You will stay overnight in Dingboche lodge.
Day 10: Acclimatization day; walking to Nangkartshang Peak
This morning, we will head towards the Nangkartshang Peak (5,080m) on Dingboche. From the summit, there is a stunning panorama with views of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Taboche, and Makalu Mountain. If you climb Nangkartshang Peak, you can acclimate yourself better. Today, you will stay comfortably in Dingboche and spend the night.
Day 11: Trek to Chhukung (4730m): 3-4 hrs walk
Today, we will slow down as we will face a pretty hard walk tomorrow, so our body needs to rest. We can see the cattle cabins with great mountain views on our way. After a slow walk for about 3 hours from Dingboche, we will finally reach Chukung.
Day 12: Chhukung to Kongma-La after Lobuche walking about 6-7 hrs
We are approaching Everest and will conquer higher heights. In this region, we will cross the first three high passes. First, we head to the high camp to climb the Kongma La Pass. Later, after arriving in Thukla, we will have our lunch. You can hike the Khumbu Glacier. After about an hour of steep ascent, we will arrive at a place commemorating deceased climbers who attempted to conquer Everest. Here, trekkers can see piles of stone everywhere. You can also view the gorgeous Mount Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbuste, etc. We will spend the night in Lobuche.
Day 13: Trek to Everest base camp and then return to Gorak shep: 7 to 9 hrs walk.
We are close to Everest base camp, but it’s a challenging day for us. Then, we will finally arrive at Gorak Shep and check into the hotel after walking for about 3 hours now, but it seems to be a little more due to altitude. With the help of our proper guidance and walking slowly and continuously, you will reach your destination in no time. The view of the place is breathtaking as towering snowy peaks surround us.
After stopping for a light lunch, we head to Everest base camp, which takes about 5-6 hours to return to Gorak Shep, where we spend the night. After arriving at Everest base camp, you can see the prayer flags, and the mountain you can; see in front of you is not Everest but Khumbutse and Lhotse. Only behind these mountains, we have a look at Everest. Then, we will return to Gorak Shep to spend the night and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 14: Walk to Kala Pathar and return to Lobuche: 6 to 7 hrs walk
After having a morning meal, we hike to the Kala Patthar. It’s worth a 2-3 hour walk with its magnificent views of Everest, the Khumbu Icefall, and the other Himalayan giants from Changtse, Nuptse, Pumori Lhotse, etc. For many trekkers, it is the highlight of the journey and the highest point they have to walk. After climbing Kala Patthar, we will return to Gorak Shep tea house for lunch. Then, we will begin our descent along the same way, walking for about 2 hours and returning to Lobuche in the afternoon. We will spend our night in Lobuche.
Day 15: Trek to Dzongla (4830 m): 4-5 hrs walk
Leaving Lobuche, we head to the junction before Dugla and spend some time around Lake Cholaa-Tscho. Dzongla is a popular place at the front of the Cho la Pass with many yak pastures and surrounded by high peaks. Moving towards Dzongla, we will leave Pumori, Khumbutse, and Nuptse behind us. On our way to Dzongla, we will see the beautiful Chola Tsho Lake. We will continue our walk and discover that Lobuche is just behind us and Cholaste is on our right. Today, we all will spend our night at the Lodge in Dzongla.
Day 16: Crossing Cho La and heading to Dragnag: 7 to 8 hrs
After enjoying a morning meal in Dzongla, walk towards Cho La Pass, one of the three high passes in this Everest region. During this day, we walk around Jobo Lhaptshan96440m) and Taboche (6367); once we pass them, we descend the road to Dragnag. Today’s hike will be adventurous and fun and take you through many emotions. Now, you will walk in a relatively flat area. You climb steeply with rocks. From here, you can’t Cho La. Continuing the walk, you will reach Cho La after walking in a steep moraine. You will see glaciers along your way, which will be an unforgettable sight. After finally going to Cho La, it’s a long and challenging road to travel to Dagnag. When you finally get to Dragnag, you will spend the night in a tea house.
Day 17: Trek to Gokyo: 4 hrs walk
Today your hike hour is short and easy, almost balancing the tough and long hike you had yesterday. You will walk north to get to Gokyo along the Ngozumpa glacier and descend on it. After crossing the glacier, you will arrive at Gokyo. You can rest the day exploring the town, interacting with locals, or visiting the lakes. You will spend the night in Gokyo.
Day 18: Early Morning walk in the Gokyo Valley and exploration of the Gokyo lakes
Today is your second acclimatization day on this trek. Today you go on an excursion to Gokyo Ri to enjoy the sunrise view. The panorama of the Himalayas and the views of the beautiful glaciers and lakes are breathtaking from here. After enjoying some time here, you descend to the town of Gokyo. You will spend the rest of the time exploring the Gokyo lakes. Today, you will pay for the night comfortably in a tea house in Gokyo.
Day 19: Renjo La and trek to Langden in the Thame Valley: 7 hrs walk
Today you will go up to Renjo La, where you can view the stunning view of Mount Everest, Makalu, Naptuse, Lhotse, etc. This road will lead you to the Thame Valley, one of the most popular trade routes with Tibet through Nangpa la. Today you will stay at the Langdon Tea House Lodge.
Day 20: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,445 m) 5 to 6 hrs walk
Today, you will return to Namche Bazar. It’s your third visit to the Namche Bazar. We will leave Thame and walk through the rhododendron and pine forests to get here. Along your way, you will see the small towns with Sherpas settlements. After walking for a few hours, you will arrive in Namche. Today you don’t need to climb downhill or uphill. After reaching your destination, have your dinner and spend the night.
Day 21: Trek down to Lukla: 8 to 9 hrs walk
Enjoy your morning meal in Namche and head towards Phakding. There you will have your lunch and again continue your walk to Lukla. You can look back and say bye to the spectacular mountains. After reaching Lukla, you can feel you have accomplished something. You should feel that way because you have completed the most challenging and adventurous hike. You will spend the night in Lukla.
Day 22: Return to Kathmandu
You will take the same 45-minute flight back to Kathmandu and leave the mountains with unforgettable memories. After arriving in Kathmandu, you can rest or explore the city with your friends or group. Spend the night in your hotel.
Day 23: Leisure day
It’s a free day to rest and relax after continuing the hiking and trekking you experienced in the past few days. However, the main reasons for this additional day are because of the delays or cancellations of flights from Lukla to Kathmandu. So, to minimize the risk of missing your flight to your hometown, it is a leisure day. Today, you will spend the night in the hotel.
Day 24: Departure day
Today is the last day of your Everest Three-Pass Trek in Nepal. After enjoying your morning meal in the hotel, check out and get ready. Therefore, before you book your Nepal trekking or peak climbing, please read this packing list carefully and arrange it with you. The following are the list of equipments that we suggest to you for trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal.
Trekking Boots: You must pack sturdy and comfortable hiking waterproof boots that provide support and protection to your feet and ankles. Also, be sure that you tie and untie the laces with ease and check that the boot has deep-cut traction on the sole.
Backpack: Choose a backpack with a good quality having of capacity 40-60litres to carry all your gear and personal items. Duffle bag or kit bag is necessary to carry gear while trekking.
Sleeping Bags: It is best to carry your own sleeping bags. For trekking in high-altitudes in Nepal, we advise you to carry a warm and lightweight sleeping bag rated to at least -25C.
Clothing: You will need a variety of clothing depending on the season of your trekking. But for any season trekking, always carry quick-drying, moisture-wicking clothes. Also not to forget the layers are very important for adjusting to changing temperatures during trekking days. So, choose the best brands for a base layer, insulation layer, outer layer, trekking trousers, shirts, waterproof jackets, etc.
Trekking Poles: The use of poles during trekking days is very essential as they help to reduce the impact and stress on your joints and make your trekking days easier, especially on steep and rugged terrain.
First Aid Kit: Don’t forget to carry a first aid kit with essentials such as antiseptic, bandages, pain relievers, blister treatments, etc.
Water Filtration System: Rather than buying bottled water in every lodge, or tea house, we suggest you carry a water bottle with a built-in filter or water purification tablets for safe drinking water.
